Pillow Pets Make Bedtime Less Lonely

Chances are your little one has already asked for one…

of the My Pillow Pets.  The commercials are frequently on during children’s programming on television so they know all about them.  If YOU don’t know what these are, let me explain just why your little one would love to have one or more under the Christmas tree.

My Pillow Pets are adorable plush toy that is stuffed animal yet it’s a pillow at the same time.  There are tons of cute animals you can choose, so the kids will have fun playing and cuddling with their new pet. However, the large 18 inch size when opened and super-soft squishiness of the pet makes them a perfect pillow, too.

The unique design of My Pillow Pets is due to a strap attached beneath the body which when loosened, allows the animal to fully spread out and become a usable, super cushy pillow.  The toy is made of snugly-soft chenille fabric and stuffed with cushy, hypoallergenic fiber fill.

When your child plays all day with her Pillow Pet, how do you think she’ll feel when she can now take her buddy, loosen the strap and lie down in bed with it? Often, having their favorite toy in bed can help a child sleep better and go to sleep faster because it helps relieve that niggling fear of what might be under the bed or hiding in the closet.

There is only one problem with My Pillow Pets – don’t expect to only buy just one.  After all, your child’s new playmate will need company, right?  With My Pillow Pets, there are so many to choose from, that most kids will have a hard time picking just one.  Silly Monkey, Magical Unicorn, Tardy Turtle and Ms Lady Bug are just a few of the almost 20 different animals you’ll find.

Let Your Imagination Roll Wild!

There’s Never a Boring Moment with Rory’s Story Cubes

Rory's Story Cubes game

Rory's Story Cubes game

There are many situations where Rory’s Story Cubes can be the perfect game to liven up the atmosphere and provide everyone in the room with lots of laughs and enjoyment. Just a few good examples would include a birthday party, baby shower, sleepover, or even a family get-together. What is so great about this exciting game is it can be played with as few as just one player or as many people as you wish.
There are 9 dice that are included in this game and you will find a different image that is printed on each side of every cube. To start the game a player rolls all of the cubes and pays attention to each of the images that show up on top. Any image the player selects can be the starting point for their ‘Once upon a time’ story. Then the player will need to link the rest of the images on Rory’s Story Cubes by using their imagination and creating an exciting story. It’s a blast for anyone that is 8 years old and up to come up with their own wild and wacky story within 15 minutes playing time. The best part about it is there are no answers that are wrong.
You can choose to follow the rules of Rory’s Story Cubes, or you can even get more creative and make your own rules. No matter what set of rules you choose to use, anyone can become a fantastic storyteller in a matter of minutes. This is a story generator that easily fits right in your pocket and it can be used anywhere you go. Aside from being a great ice-breaker, this fun game also helps a great deal in being able to promote development in literacy, artistic expression, problem solving, listening and speaking skills.

One caveat though, you will want to keep this game and its dice away from smaller children and babies as it would be a very real choking hazard to anyone putting them into mouths.

Angry Birds Knock On Wood Game is Fun for the Whole Family

When the Angry Birds app was first released just before Christmas 2 years ago,

Angry Birds are everywhere

even the developer didn’t realize what a sensation this new and addictive puzzle game would be. The popularity of it, however, took off so much that the app sold over 12 million copies and new versions have been created for other platforms.  Angry Birds Knock on Wood Game now brings the fun to the age 5–9 group, as well as the entire family.

What the creators have done is created a hybrid type of game with skill and action play both involved.  Angry Birds Knock on Wood Game has players attempting to build structures that are shown on picture “mission” cards.  While they do that, their opponent will be trying to knock down the structure and green pigs by using the enclosed slingshot to launch the three Angry Birds at them.

All the pieces are nice and sturdy, so made to hold up to younger children.  The rules of playing Angry Birds Knock on Wood Game are simple and easy to learn and since the “missions” are pictorial, no reading is necessary.  Although it says for ages 5-9, older kids and parents will have fun and be challenged by some of the structures they need to build.

Angry Birds Knock on Wood Game is great for teaching young children how to take turns, figure out how to solve problems and also helps build fine motor skills.  At the same time, being able to throw the Angry Birds figures with the slingshot keeps enough action to maintain their interest.

Don’t be surprised if your child sits and plays with this game all by themselves.  With or without the “mission” cards, your child could have hours of fun simply building various improbable structures.  Of course, a large part of the fun from Angry Birds Knock on Wood will always be from making those birds knock the towers down again and tumbling the pigs in the process.
